How much does it cost to have my curtains / blinds made to measure?
The cost of making made to measure curtains or roman blinds depends on:
- The size of the window
- The price of the face fabric
- The pattern repeat of the face fabric
- The type and quality of lining used
- The type of mechanism (roman blinds)
- The type of heading applied and preferred fullness of curtains
- The type of finish, the more time consuming the finish the more expensive the final product
It may be quite difficult to imagine how deciding on the above factors would affect the total cost, therefore I would recommend getting in touch to discuss different options. I would then be able to give an approximate quote.
Can you provide me with fabric samples?
Yes, I will be happy to provide you with up to 5 free samples for the main fabric.
How long does it take to have my curtains / blinds made?
I intend to complete orders within 10 working days from the time I’ve received all the necessary materials. This will usually depend on the waiting time for the main fabric to arrive. If the fabric is in stock it usually takes up to 5 working days for it to arrive from most UK based suppliers.
Occasionally, with more complex and larger orders I may require more time to complete them, should this occur I’ll ensure you’re aware of any changes in waiting time when I confirm your order.
Do you come to measure the windows?
For all Edinburgh based orders over £200 I’m able to visit and measure the windows at no extra charge; on smaller orders a £10 fee would apply. I’m always happy to advice on how to measure your windows if you'd rather do it by yourself, although I can't take responsibility if the measurements aren't accurate and the finished product doesn't fit.
What kind of finish do you offer?
I can offer variety of finishes depending on what the customer wants to achieve. As product quality manager I ensure the curtains and blinds are finished to a very high standard. Unless agreed otherwise with the client I offers invisible stitch to finish the bottom of curtains and sides of the blinds. I use matching thread not a clear plastic thread like some popular retailers, my invisible stitch is also done by hand to ensure precision. I use machine stitch to install curtain tape and fix the lining onto the main fabric. For the fabric with pattern I ensure the best match is achieved when joining the fabric. My standard lining is 100 % cotton, I also offer high quality blackout lining.
I can also offer machine finish to cut down the cost and fit smaller budgets.
Curtains: Hand finish at the bottom with 3-4 inch double fold, lining attached with machine stitch, curtain weights at the bottom, 2 for each curtain.
What is the delivery cost?
Edinburgh based orders over £200 – I’ll deliver in person, free of charge.
Orders below £200 and non-Edinburgh based orders - an appropriate charge will apply, please contact for details.
Do you install the blinds?
No, I don't install the blinds.
Do you install the curtains?
I'm able to hang the curtains for you provided the right fittings are in place (rail, track etc.).
Do I need to pay for the curtains and blind up front?
Yes, it is required to make the payment before the fabric can be ordered and the curtains / blinds made. Invoice will be issued and email or posted as the proof of purchase.
How do I pay for my order?
You can pay for your order via bank transfer or cash.
Due to the bespoke nature of my products I’m unable to issue refunds on items that have been customised for you including all made to measure soft furnishings. I strongly recommend ordering samples of fabrics before ordering made to measure furnishings.
Please note that for items made from upcycled materials providing a sample may not be possible. Once complete according to client agreed specifications these customised products can not be refunded unless faulty.
Other products may be returned within 14 days of delivery. Items must be returned undamaged and in their original packaging.
Please inspect your items when you receive them. For all soft furnishings, please check you are happy prior to installing.
If your order arrives damaged or faulty please let me know within 48 hours of delivery.
